A Clear Path

Today while walking up the steps in the garage at work, I happened to see a baby bird. The bird caught my attention because it was cute, petite and alone. I wondered how the bird had found itself in the garage. As I continued to walk, the bird became startled. The next thing I know, the poor little baby bird flew right into the window. I realized that the bird was confused. What looked to be a way of escape, ultimately caused the bird harm. As I reflected, I thought about how often we see what looks like a great opportunity, but yet it ultimately causes us pain.

We too find ourselves looking for a way of escape. It can also be perceived as running from our problems, running due to fear of the unknown, or just chasing change! For example, you have a bad day at work and you instantly begin searching for a new job. Instead of learning how to handle the challenges, we begin looking for a way out. Or, we get involved with all types of activities and organizations to stay busy. Ultimately, the avoidance mechanism that you are using is wearing you out! How about the person who constantly relocates? They are chasing peace. In all of these scenarios, there is something deeper that disrupts your spirit. What causes you discontentment?

Take the time to ask yourself, “What am I running from?” Is it fear, heartache, pain, or the unknown? You have already realized that when you try to fix your problems, it only makes matters worse. Instead of finding happiness and contentment, you find more frustration. When we try to solve our own problems without seeking GOD for guidance, we end up just like that bird, going nowhere and confused!

Thought of the day: I challenge you to remove those blinders that are causing you to miss the clear path. Isaiah 42:16 says, “I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them.” Life is so much easier when you have direction and the path is clear! Try it!!
